Building a ladder of opportunity- Travis Perkins plc ends month long Apprenticeship Scheme campaign on a high
The number of applications to join the Travis Perkins Apprenticeship Scheme has hit an all time high after a campaign to raise awareness of the opportunities for young people in the industry was launched in February.
The month long focus, starting on Valentine’s Day with the launch of the social media campaign #TPLoveApprentices, spanned Government lead initiative National Apprenticeship Week and the National Apprenticeship Show. To conclude the campaign, it was announced that the Learning and Development team have been accepted onto the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers. This will enable us to continue to build on and diversify our already successful internally led Apprenticeship programmes.
The Group, who have been heavily promoting their work to encourage apprentices into the business in a number of roles in the press leading up to the 10th annual National Apprenticeship Week, noticed a significant uplift in registrations of interest in joining the scheme particularly after the recruitment team spoke to hundreds of young people looking to start their careers, at the National Apprentice Show in Milton Keynes.
Louise Powell, Group Head of Learning and Development said: “I have been hugely excited by the spotlight we’re seeing on apprentices and this campaign has helped us share more about what our business can do to help grow people’s careers”
“We remain positive about the opportunities the Apprenticeship reforms bring to us as an organisation to improve quality and increase the number of programmes we run, while ensuring they are made available to more people both externally and among our existing colleagues”
“Along with addressing the skills gap in our industry, our business is so versatile that we believe there are jobs for everyone regardless of their background or skillset. We’re able to offer so many fantastic roles for apprentices in locations all across the UK”
“An apprenticeship helps equip someone with lifelong skills and helps them build a successful career. We’re incredibly excited by what our apprentices have already achieved and have some fantastic examples of people who are now in senior roles within the business after learning on the job with us.”
