Construction has a key role to play in decarbonising the built environment and Travis Perkins is committed to lead on this agenda
The Group operates a large fleet and property estate, sources and sells hundreds of thousands of products, and has announced a challenging, but achievable 1.5 degree aligned carbon target by 2035.
The Science Based Targets initiative (‘SBTi’) has formally recognised these plans to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80% before 2035 from a 2020 base year, and reduce total scope 3 emissions by 63% within the same timeframe.
During 2021 Travis Perkins decreased the Group’s absolute Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint by 1.7%. This result has been achieved through a range of initiatives, including fleet optimisation, the introduction of electric vehicles and alternative fuels, and investment in other low carbon technology and renewable energy systems.
The Group’s Scope 3 footprint increased in absolute terms by 4% during 2021. Relative to £m revenue the Group’s scope 3 impact reduced by 14%. The company remains focused on supply chain engagement to drive further emissions reductions.
