The 11th such coach Travis Perkins has donated.
Northampton: 3rd September 2018; As Travis Perkins plc celebrate their 15th year of sponsoring the TP Masters, part of the Staysure Tour, the organisation presented a Sunshine Coach to Woodlands Secondary School in Luton.The keys to the coach were handed over by John Carter, Chief Executive of Travis Perkins plc over the weekend at Woburn Golf Club, along with Jamie Little, Director of Golf for the Variety Club Golf Society to Debbie Foolkes, Headteacher at Woodlands. Debbie was supported by an excited group of students from the school.
Variety, the children’s charity, aims to improve the lives of children and young people throughout the UK. Providing both coaches and bespoke wheelchairs, sensory and specialist equipment to support life at home, in school’s and children’s hospitals.
Woodlands School is an outstanding special needs school for pupils aged 11-19, that brings together a range of learning styles, resources, support and guidance to ensure that learning barriers are removed for their children to go on to achieve their full potential.
The donation will enable the school to participate in community trips, and extended learning opportunities such as work experience, educational and vocational trips and residential trips such as the Duke of Edinburgh Awards expeditions.
John Carter added: This is our 15th year as title sponsor of the Travis Perkins Masters and the sun has come out for what’s going to be a great three days of golf. For me the presentation of this coach is always a focal point of the tournament and starts the weekend off in a great way, by giving back to the community. This is the 11th Sunshine Coach we have donated which coincides with our 11th consecutive year at Woburn, and we’ve seen firsthand, the difference they make to schools. As a business, I hope we will continue to support many more charitable causes in the future.”
Jamie Little, Director of Golf for the Variety Club Golf Society said: “We’re proud to donate a coach each year and it’s a great pleasure to put another Variety Club Sunshine Coach on the road for such a deserving school.”
Debbie Foolkes, Headteacher of Woodlands continued by adding “Working at the Woodlands School is such a privilege, we are able go above and beyond to provide such an extensive curriculum for the children. This bus will enable us to do things that other schools aren't always able to do. We are incredibly grateful for this donation.”
