Travis Perkins Group, the UK’s largest supplier of building materials, has been shortlisted in the 2019 HR Distinction Awards, in the Leading Transformational Change category.
This is a recognition of Travis Perkins’ ability to ‘plan, implement and manage the ‘people aspect’ of a business transformation project’.
The Group was shortlisted for its development of new HR services in the form of an engaging self-service portal for both managers and colleagues, and the introduction of new HR systems, where processes were simplified and standardised across multiple brands including some 20+ businesses.
“This was the largest change programme we have ever undertaken as a Group. It involved around 27,000 colleagues across a complex environment, and our HR team developed some very innovative engagement and communication strategies to support colleagues that would be involved in these changes.
“It was important to make this significant investment in business readiness to ensure everyone within the Group was ‘ready, willing and able’ to use the new systems and adopt the new ways of working, so we could successfully deliver these new HR services that were needed for our business to support its growth,” explained Group Group Human Resources Director Carol Kavanagh.
While the programme began with the implementation of a new HR systems, Travis Perkins took advantage of the opportunity to deliver something bigger and change the way HR and change solutions are delivered, and using it as a chance to interact with colleagues from across all of the Travis Perkins 20+ businesses.
